Measuring guide
We do the maths. We check it with you before we weave.
Three steps, a tape measure and one photo.

- 01
Count the steps you stand on
Count every tread your foot lands on. Leave out the landing at the top.
- 02
Measure the stair width
Measure wall to wall, or wall to spindles. We use it to suggest the right runner width.
- 03
Tell us if it turns
Let us know about any winders, then take one photo from the bottom of the stairs.
How we work out the length
0.5 m per step, plus 0.3 m to finish
Each step takes about half a metre of runner, over the tread and down the riser. We add 0.3 m to finish neatly at the top and bottom. Each winder step on a turn adds a further 0.3 m. We round up to the next 10 cm.
Example: 13 straight steps
13 × 0.5 m = 6.5 m
+ 0.3 m to finish
= 6.8 m of runner
